Job Overview:
The Engineer (Electro-Mechanical) role supports the design, development, and manufacturing of PPS 3D printing systems and related electromechanical equipment. This role is focused on learning and contributing across the full product lifecycle, including mechanical and electrical system design, prototyping, testing, documentation, and manufacturing support.
Working closely with experienced engineers, manufacturing, and operations teams, the Electro-Mechanical Engineer will help bring new designs from concept to production while supporting continuous improvement of existing equipment. This is a hands-on, growth-focused role ideal for an early-career engineer interested in advanced manufacturing, automation, and 3D printing technologies.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Support the design and development of electro-mechanical components, subsystems, and assemblies used in PPS 3D printing equipment
- Assist with prototyping, testing, validation, and documentation of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
- Support product and process improvements to enhance performance, reliability, manufacturability, and serviceability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and operations to support new product introductions and production builds
- Help execute verification and validation test plans and support data collection and analysis
- Provide day-to-day engineering support for manufacturing and assembly activities, including troubleshooting and root-cause analysis
- Maintain accurate design documentation, CAD models, drawings, and bills of materials
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and problem-solving activities
- Perform additional engineering tasks assigned to support team and business needs
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong curiosity, work ethic, and willingness to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Good organizational, time-management, and communication skills
- Basic understanding of the product development lifecycle, including requirements, design, prototyping, testing, and release
- Familiarity with structured problem-solving methods and failure analysis concepts
- Solid mechanical design fundamentals, including tolerance basics and introductory FEA exposure
- Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Exposure to electro-mechanical systems such as motors, actuators, sensors, and motion components
- Familiarity with 3D printing technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes is a plus
- Experience or interest in hydraulic, pneumatic, or electromechanical actuation systems is a plus
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 0–3 years of relevant engineering experience (internships, co-ops, or project experience welcomed)
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
- Travel 5% or less.
