Role Overview
The Sleepwear Designer will create commercially viable, brand-right sleepwear and intimate apparel concepts that align with the overall seasonal direction, category strategy, and business objectives. This position requires strong Illustrator sketching ability, a solid understanding of apparel construction, and experience developing detailed technical packages. The Designer must be able to work quickly, maintain accuracy across linesheets and documentation, and adapt designs based on market trends, leadership guidance, and cross-functional collaboration.
This role supports a fast-paced team during a critical part of the seasonal calendar and will primarily focus on sketching, coloring, and tech pack creation.
Key ResponsibilitiesDesign & Development
- Create commercial, trend-relevant designs for sleepwear and intimates, ensuring alignment with conceptual direction and category goals.
- Produce high-quality Illustrator sketches with efficiency and accuracy.
- Color and finalize line art in Illustrator and build season-ready design presentations.
- Develop detailed tech packs with strong focus on construction, fabric, trims, drape, and finishing techniques to ensure first prototypes meet expectations.
- Update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain accuracy in Centric (preferred).
- Support the creation of prototypes, ensuring specifications are clear and complete.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Color & Print, and Graphics teams throughout the design lifecycle.
- Update and maintain detailed linesheets, ensuring all sketches, colors, and information remain accurate throughout the season.
- Present concepts and designs to internal leadership and partner teams.
Trend & Market Research
- Conduct competitive research and analyze trend direction to inform design decisions.
- Recommend internal and external resources to support ideation and seasonal development.
Team & Culture
- Model a positive, flexible, and solutions-oriented attitude within the design team.
- Support leadership by helping drive workload during peak seasonal periods.
- Assist in task distribution and workflow coordination as needed.
Required Experience & SkillsTechnical Skills
- Advanced Illustrator sketching ability with speed and precision (non-negotiable).
- Ability to color and format line art in Illustrator with accuracy.
- Strong knowledge of apparel construction and tech pack development.
- Proficiency with InDesign and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with Centric PLM preferred.
- Ability to maintain detailed linesheets containing large volumes of information.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or equivalent, or relevant experience.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in sleepwear, intimates, or a comparable apparel category preferred; however, candidates of any level will be considered if they demonstrate strong sketching and tech pack ability.
- Proven ability to develop original sketches and contribute to successful product lines.
- Demonstrated understanding of fabric, fit, construction, and garment performance.
- Ability to work hybrid in the NYC area.
