Assistant Controller - On-site in Webb City, MO

Position Summary

The Assistant Controller will play a key role in supporting the Finance & Accounting department and strengthening the company’s financial operations. This position assists with maintaining accurate financial records, improving accounting processes, and ensuring continuity of key functions. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, highly organized, and capable of operating with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced environment.

This is a full‑time role with long‑term growth potential, including the opportunity to assume expanded responsibilities as the department evolves.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Operations & Support

• Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
• Support the Controller in maintaining the general ledger and ensuring accuracy of financial data.
• Prepare and review financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Monitor and maintain accounting workflows to ensure timely and accurate processing.

Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Oversight

• Provide oversight and support for AR and AP processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to company policies.
• Assist with customer account maintenance, credit memos, adjustments, and dispute resolution.
• Review and validate customer and vendor data for accuracy and completeness.

Process Improvement & Documentation

• Document existing accounting processes, workflows, and system configurations to support cross training and continuity.
• Identify opportunities to streamline procedures and strengthen internal controls.
• Assist with implementing standardized practices across the department.

Systems & Data Integrity

• Support the maintenance of accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online (QBO) and other financial platforms.
• Ensure data accuracy and consistency across systems during integration or transition periods.
• Assist with user access reviews and system configuration updates as needed.

Cross Functional Collaboration

• Serve as a point of contact for internal departments regarding accounting inquiries, providing clear and professional communication.
• Collaborate with Operations, Sales, and Customer Service to resolve issues and maintain alignment on financial processes.
• Support the Controller and Director of Finance in special projects and ad hoc analysis.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong understanding of GAAP principles and accounting fundamentals
• Proficiency with accounting software
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

• 2–4 years of professional accounting or AR/AP experience
• Experience in a multi-entity or multilocation environment
• Exposure to process documentation or internal controls
• Prior experience in manufacturing, distribution, or service based industries
