Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Assembly Technician to join our growing on-site team in a fast-paced custom machine building environment. This role is responsible for the accurate assembly of automated packaging machines according to mechanical drawings and assembly prints. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and thrives in an engineer-to-order environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and mechanical assembly drawings independently.
- Verify conformance of components to the Bill of Material.
- Prepare and align components for assembly of work cells, stations, and other automated equipment.
- Verifies the alignment and tolerances of moving parts.
- Assemble, fit, align, plumb, and integrate workstations or systems that may include pneumatics and hydraulics, electrical sensing components, power transmission systems, conveyor systems and feeder systems.
- Work independently with the engineering group to address design issues or necessary improvements.
- Participate in project meetings and design reviews to suggest manufacture or design improvements.
- Ability to troubleshoot, service, and perform required repairs to automation equipment.
- Perform electrical testing, troubleshooting and verification to ensure the automated equipment or system is functioning as it is designed to.
- Participate in tear down and shipping of the equipment.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work area
- Assist in 5S and Lean activities as required
- Participate in continuous ongoing safety training
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities Essential to the Position
- Expert in the use of hand tools required for machine assembly
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics
- Basic wiring skills
- Ability to perform electrical testing and troubleshooting if needed
- Ability to stand, stoop, and/or kneel for extended periods of time
- Reliability is a must
- Must be able to work alone, with very little guidance, and collaboratively, as a team member, to suggest ideas and resolve issues in a positive manner
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience building packaging equipment (Preferred)

Schedule:
