Bioinformatics AI Platform (6-Month Contract, Extendable)
Overview
- We are looking for a strong Full-Stack or Backend Engineer to help build a Gene & Variant Curation Platform powered by AI. This is a greenfield project converting curated on-prem bioinformatics data into a scalable production system.
Has worked with scientists - pharmaceuticals, bioinformatics, etc.
Responsibilities
- Work directly with bioinformatics scientists for knowledge transfer
- Design and build backend services for curated genomic data
- Implement intelligent data retrieval/search systems
- Build API layer for internal and external consumption
- Integrate AI agent-based workflows
- Deploy solutions into production (on-prem preferred)
- Optionally develop UI components if needed
- Collaborate on tech stack decisions (not finalized yet)
Strong Plus (Preferred)
- Experience with Agentic AI frameworks
- Experience deploying AI agents into production
- Familiarity with LLM-based workflow automation
- Bioinformatics or genomics exposure
- Experience building search / retrieval systems
- Knowledge of hybrid on-prem AI model deployment
AI / LLM Environment
- Agent-based AI workflows required
- May use models such as DeepSeek / Qwen or similar
- Not using Claude (localization constraints)
- Candidate does not need to architect AI models
- Must understand how to deploy and use agentic AI systems
Tech Stack

- Data: PostgreSQL / Elasticsearch / Graph / TBD
- AI: Agent frameworks local or hosted models
