Salary Range: $165k to $180k
Overview
A growing technology services organization is seeking a Director of Professional Services to lead consulting delivery operations, drive client success, and support business growth initiatives. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing end-to-end delivery of IT consulting engagements, including project scoping, execution, implementation, and transition to managed services support.
The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of technical leadership, operational management, financial accountability, and client-facing consulting experience within an MSP or IT services environment.
Key Responsibilities
Professional Services Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of consultants, engineers, and project leaders
- Manage resource allocation, utilization, and project staffing across multiple engagements
- Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and professional development planning
- Build scalable delivery processes and reduce operational dependencies through cross-training and documentation
Project Delivery & Operations
- Oversee active consulting engagements to ensure successful delivery within scope, timeline, and budget
- Establish and maintain standardized delivery methodologies, documentation standards, and implementation procedures
- Manage project risks including scope creep, resource constraints, and technical blockers
- Ensure smooth transition of completed projects into ongoing managed services support
- Maintain high levels of client satisfaction through proactive communication and operational excellence
Financial & Business Performance
- Own consulting services profitability, revenue realization, and contribution margin performance
- Drive successful project execution with strong focus on forecasting, budgeting, and resource planning
- Monitor engagement health, utilization metrics, and delivery KPIs
- Support operational efficiency and continuous process improvement initiatives
Business Development Support
- Partner with sales and account management teams on pre-sales activities including discovery, solution design, scoping, and effort estimation
- Participate in proposal development, client presentations, and strategic planning discussions
- Identify opportunities to expand client relationships and convert consulting engagements into recurring managed services opportunities
- Assist in developing repeatable service offerings and scalable consulting solutions
Strategic & Technical Leadership
- Stay current on emerging technologies and industry best practices
- Provide leadership across infrastructure, cloud, networking, security, endpoint management, and managed services operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with technical operations, service desk, infrastructure, and security teams
- Drive improvements in service delivery methodology, client experience, and operational maturity
Qualifications for the Role
Required Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or related field preferred
- 10 years of experience in IT consulting, professional services, or technical project delivery
- 7 years of leadership experience managing technical teams and client engagements
- Experience working within an MSP, managed services, or IT services organization
- Proven track record delivering complex projects on time and within budget
- Experience supporting pre-sales efforts, proposal development, and client presentations
- Strong understanding of project financials, budgeting, forecasting, and margin management
Technical Knowledge
- Broad technical understanding across:
- Microsoft Azure and cloud technologies
- Microsoft 365 environments
- Infrastructure and systems administration
- Networking and security
- Backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Endpoint management and managed services operations
- Familiarity with Cisco Meraki and enterprise networking concepts preferred
- Knowledge of IT service management frameworks and professional services delivery models
