1st Grade Teacher
7 hours per day/180 days per year
$57,432-$118,912 yearly salary

Skills and Qualifications:
Must possess or be eligible for Washington State certification with elementary endorsement
Strong academic preparation in elementary reading, language arts, and early childhood education
Strong academic preparation or experience with oral language development strategies
Successful experience and/or training working with primary age children
Training/experience in the Laser Science Unit, or willingness to attend mandatory training during the summer months when offered
Training/experience in the WaKids Teaching Strategies GOLD, or willingness to attend mandatory training during the summer months when offered
Deep understanding of primary ELA and Math standards
Knowledge of formative and summative assessments to identify student needs
Possesses knowledge and training around Professional Learning Communities
Knowledge and/or experience working with ethnic minority children preferred
Knowledge and experience using the PBIS model, as well as AVID
Ability to communicate well with parents, students, and staff
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team
PBIS and AVID trained or willingness to attend training
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Reports To:
Building Principal
Major Tasks and Responsibilities:
Plan and implement adopted instructional programs
Carry out responsibilities associated with classroom management programs, etc.
Participate in curriculum development at the building and district levels as appropriate
Actively participates in in-service activities
Interact with other staff and community members on a professional level
Communicate with parents regarding student progress and school programs
Develop and maintain a positive classroom climate
Willingness to attend training and implement AVID Strategies
Perform other duties as assigned.
Support for New Teachers in the Prosser School District Includes:
Assigned a new teacher mentor/coach for at least 1 year
Assigned a job alike mentor
Professional development focused on establishing a quality learning environment and effective teaching strategies
Professional development funds to support new teacher development.
