Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Financial Patient Services Representative to support patients through the financial aspects of their healthcare journey. This role is responsible for screening uninsured and underinsured patients and assisting them with identifying coverage options, financial assistance programs, and payment solutions for both inpatient and outpatient services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial screenings for uninsured and underinsured patients prior to services, including office visits, diagnostic testing, procedures, and surgeries
- Navigate and complete financial referrals for patients requiring assistance
- Review patient medical and treatment history to support financial assessments
- Evaluate patient financial status and explore third-party liability options such as Charity Care, Medicaid, Disability, grant programs, and other assistance resources
- Educate patients on available healthcare coverage options, including state presumptive eligibility and insurance marketplace plans
- Assist patients in understanding and utilizing their health benefits for primary and preventive care
- Generate and communicate patient financial responsibility estimates
- Collect payments and/or set up payment arrangements as needed
- Maintain accurate, clear, and concise documentation within internal systems
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and internal departments on a daily basis
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, billing, and reimbursement
- Experience working with health insurance plans, Medicaid, and financial assistance programs preferred
- Familiarity with systems such as EPIC, IDX Flowcast, and HealthQuest preferred
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, continuity of care protocols, and coding principles
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to provide excellent service to patients, clinicians, and administrative staff
Pay: $21.00 - $23.00 per hour
