Job Overview
A Certified Home Health Aide (HHA) provides essential in-home care and health-related services to individuals who are elderly, chronically ill, disabled, or recovering from surgery or medical conditions. Under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed healthcare professional, HHAs assist with personal care, monitor patient health, and help maintain a safe and supportive living environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs):
Support clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and ambulation.
- Monitor and Record Vital Signs:
Check temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure as instructed by supervising medical staff.
- Medication Reminders:
Assist with self-administration of prescribed medications in accordance with the care plan.
- Meal Preparation and Feeding:
Prepare nutritious meals based on dietary restrictions and assist with feeding if necessary.
- Light Housekeeping:
Maintain a clean and safe home environment by performing laundry, changing linens, and tidying living spaces.
- Patient Mobility and Transfers:
Safely assist patients with transfers from beds, chairs, or wheelchairs; use of gait belts or Hoyer lifts as needed.
- Health Monitoring and Documentation:
Observe and report changes in physical or emotional condition to nurses or supervisors promptly.
- Companionship and Emotional Support:
Provide social interaction and companionship to support mental well-being.
- Transportation and Errands:
Accompany clients to medical appointments or community activities and assist with shopping and errands as required.
- Follow Care Plan:
Adhere to individualized healthcare plans and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.
Qualifications
- Valid Home Health Aide (HHA) Certification from a state-approved program
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred or required by employer)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to lift, move, and support clients safely
- Compassionate, reliable, and respectful demeanor
- Experience in home care, assisted living, or skilled nursing settings is a plus
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
