Tax Compliance Intern - Path to Full Time

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Are you a soon-to-be or recent college graduate looking to launch your career in finance, accounting, or compliance? As a Tax Compliance Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting multi-state payroll tax operations for thousands of businesses across Hawaii. Over a 3-month internship, you’ll learn how to navigate real-world tax payments, filings, reconciliations, and audits—while working alongside a collaborative team of payroll professionals.

This internship is designed as a path-to-hire opportunity: high-performing interns will be eligible for full-time employment as a Tax Compliance Accountant I after three months.

• Learn to process semi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly payroll tax payments with accuracy and timeliness

• Assist with preparing and filing federal and multi-state tax returns using tools like MasterTax and Excel

• Support reconciliations of tax payments to bank and internal records

• Help respond to tax notices and agency inquiries under senior team guidance

• Participate in client onboarding by collecting and organizing tax ID documentation

• Stay current on tax rules, regulations, and compliance requirements for all 50 states

WHAT YOU BRING

You’re a detail-oriented, numbers-driven problem solver ready to kick-start your career in a fast-paced, compliance-focused environment. You thrive on learning, are comfortable with spreadsheets and research, and are excited to take ownership of real-world responsibilities with the potential to grow into a full-time role.

• Currently completing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field (graduating seniors encouraged to apply)

• Basic knowledge of accounting or payroll concepts through coursework or internships

• Proficiency in Excel and interest in learning financial systems (e.g., MasterTax, QuickBooks, etc.)

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow into a high-performing team member

• Available to work full-time for the 3-month internship and commit to Hawaii Standard Time hours

• Competitive Compensation: We value your contributions from day one. Interns receive hourly pay $20.00 - $28.00 per and real-world responsibilities that prepare you for full-time success. Upon successful completion of the internship, a full time offer would offer a salary range of $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year.
