Job Description:
- Perform submerged arc welding (SAW) on carbon steel components and assemblies in accordance with WPS.
- Set up and adjust SAW equipment, including flux and wire feed systems, amperage, and voltage settings.
- Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols.
- Inspect welds visually and with gauges to ensure quality and compliance with standards.
- Maintain proper alignment and positioning of weldments using jigs, fixtures, or clamps.
- Operate overhead cranes, hoists, or forklifts to move heavy materials (if certified).
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting of welding equipment.
- Adhere strictly to safety procedures, including use of PPE and OSHA compliance.
- Complete required documentation, including weld logs and quality reports.
- Proficient in SAW process and carbon steel welding techniques.
- Strong ability to read technical drawings and welding symbols.
- Familiarity with different joint types and welding positions.
- Understanding of preheat and post-weld heat treatment (if applicable).
- Experience in pressure vessel, pipeline, heavy fabrication, or structural steel work preferred.
- Familiarity with automated SAW systems is a plus.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift 50 lbs for extended periods.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and accountability.
