This role supports the Edge Networking team within the Bureau of Infrastructure under the Office of Administration. The position focuses on planning, designing, maintaining, and integrating LAN and WAN edge network infrastructure for assigned agencies. The candidate must be highly technical, experienced in large enterprise environments, and able to communicate effectively.
Position Requirements:
Candidates must demonstrate strong hands-on abilities with network infrastructure. CCNA and CCNP are preferred, but equivalent experience is acceptable.
Description of Duties:
Uses PCs, servers, network components, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, fax machines, cell phones, and writing tools. Must lift up to 50 pounds and work from a step ladder.
Decision Making:
Manages time appropriately, engages with networking teams when needed, maintains network availability, and ensures customer satisfaction.

Description of Duties:
- Install, configure, maintain, and manage switches, routers, firewalls, SD-WAN edge appliances, wireless equipment, cellular appliances, and related hardware or software
- Perform network management using monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Assist with planning and designing LAN and WAN architecture
- Conduct network bandwidth analysis and capacity planning
- Create specifications and schematic engineering drawings for network enhancements
- Participate in planned deployments, upgrades, and change management
- Coordinate with internal and external networking teams during deployments
- Work ServiceNow and Remedy tickets and follow established documentation processes
- Provide tier 2 support for widespread incidents affecting customers or teams
- Proactively identify and resolve complex network problems
- Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to hardware refresh cycles
- Review and assist in creating configuration standards
- Contribute to designing complex networks and optimizing edge infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with OA security requirements
- Create and maintain Visio diagrams for field and specialty networks
- Maintain documentation for setup, installation, and configuration of network components
- Support remote IT staff, agency personnel, and business partners with network issues
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and partners
- Maintain working knowledge of routing protocols and monitoring or automation tools
- Perform other duties as assigned
