About Prophet Media:

We’re a creative agency working at the intersection of music, digital culture, and film production. Based in Bushwick with frequent LA projects and occasional projects abroad, we operate like a hybrid between a creative studio and full-fledged production company - meaning interns get to be a part of multi-media projects from start to finish.  


Prophet’s Socials sector primarily functions in the indie rock, pop, & alternative music sphere to elevate artists’ brands through “premium social content.” This process includes consulting, creative directing, producing, traveling, shooting, editing, managing calendars, posting, & interpreting analytics in collaboration with artists, labels, & management teams to engage audiences by contextualizing cultural moments & being on the forefront of the latest digital tastes and trends, even scripting full social media campaigns and global rebrands for narrative cohesion leading up to, during, & after an album rollout. Prophet also renders on-the-road services for tour content capture social media with touring artists by matching artists with a hybrid video/photo shooter, a project manager, & an editor. Founder Steph Rinzler’s core mission has always been to connect music consumption with raw talent and artistry to create unique moments for artists reflective of their brand. Potential socials applicants should therefore have a deep appreciation for indie music, & collaborative world building through tailored digital expression. 


Prophet Productions produces & manages projects across formats, genres, and mediums from start to finish. Projects include bi-weekly in-person content captures, one-off socials shoots for artists & brands with integrated roll-out plans, music videos, feature length concert documentaries, press photo shoots, BTS & event content shoots, in-person fan activations, full album artwork roll-outs, stage design & wardrobe styling for shows, & more recently, multi-day twitch livestreams. Our relationships with contractors, vendors, & clients are sacred to us. We require the utmost care & detail-oriented methods in maintaining these relationships by striving for streamlined communications & robust internal organization, which entails maintaining workflows for pitching, payroll management, onboarding, budgeting, scheduling, insurance compliance, & general management. Production is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the creative vision is protected, executed, and delivered in alignment with client expectations. Production applicants should therefore have a strong understanding of front-to-back execution: production logistics, post production management, drafting, maintaining, & actualizing budgets, distilling deliverables into action-based tasks, & client-facing strategies.


Prophet Post Production also operates across formats and mediums - rendering video editing, color grading, VFX, animated graphics, mixed media, & sound design services across long form and short form cutdowns, as well as photo editing & graphic design. Strong post-production applicants should be highly organized, exemplify a true understanding of how to edit short form for maximum virality, & have strong editing & color grading skills, with the bonus of having graphics and VFX/Animation experience.

Social Media Marketing Intern

NYC In-Person | LA Hybrid | 15-25 hrs/week |  Fall Semester | For College Credit


Description:

This is for highly organized social-savvy individuals who understand how to connect, build, & retain viewers through both “stop” & “scroll” content - you’ll contribute to real client projects from day one, not just make spec work.


Your core responsibilities will include:


Trend Hunting & Analytics:

  • Deliver Weekly Trend Reports: Understand what’s trending, why it’s trending, and how a trend could be creatively leveraged for one of our clients: Analyze the songs we’re promoting, determine what segment(s) of a track (BPM, lyrics) could be best paired with a trend – an emotional trigger and/or edit pattern (cut frequency, transition styles)  – to engage audiences with a fresh contextualized take on a current trend.


  • Create Analytic Reports: Pull stats from client social accounts & interpret - be prepared to present - What’s working? What’s not? How? And why?


Ideation & Pitching Support:

There are some marketing agencies that deliver the vision their clients want, and there are those that create what they didn’t know they wanted. To be the latter, understanding a client’s contexts & taste is key, and requires:


  • Identifying & researching client’s target demographics and their past marketing strengths & weaknesses.  
  • Pulling visuals & references for pitch decks & mood boards
  • Drafting copy (for both social post captions and superimposed subtitles & titles) that is tonally aligned, fresh, and with tactful design in mind.


Influencer Outreach:

  • Assist in researching relevant influencers, crafting personalized pitches via email or DM, negotiating campaign specifics, tracking communications, & managing the relationship.


Operational Tasks:

  • Organize files & data related to ongoing projects, namely: Client archive assets (pre-prophet assets provided by a client that we catalogue with the goal of easy retrieval & re-purposing for content) & Prophet assets (the edits we make) with version control & client notes in mind.
  • Ensure proper documentation of ideas, execution plans, notes, & deliveries by helping maintain our “social bible” logs to streamline client notes & deliveries.
  • Occasionally assist on shoots (both prep & physical execution)


We want someone who:

Has a deep appreciation for indie music & collaborative world building through tailored digital expression by:

  • Analyzing viral trends like a pop scientist (Why this sound? Why that cut?)
  • Being up-to-date with the latest trends and striving to reverse engineer viral trends into actionable frameworks
  • Being a true self-starter & knowing how to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Identifying gaps and proposing solutions


Required

  • Is proficient in Google Suite (Sheets, Docs) & Canva
  • Exemplifies strong copywriting skills


Preferred: 

  • Has SEO tagging knowledge for platform uploads
  • Has working Adobe Suite knowledge


Bonus:

  • Graphic Design Experience
  • Has had past experiences with successful content creation
