What are the responsibilities and job description for the Front of House Team Member position at Proper Fish?
Proper Fish, Bainbridge Island's fish & chips restaurant, is hiring Front of House Team Members (servers) to take great care of our guests at the counter, on the floor, and at the bar. Part-time and full-time shifts available.
What you'll do:
- Greet guests and give warm, friendly service
- Take orders and run the POS (Toast); handle payments accurately
- Run food and drinks; keep tables and the counter clean and reset
- Answer menu questions and make recommendations
- Support the bar and teammates during busy rushes
- Follow food-safety and responsible alcohol-service rules
You're a fit if you have:
- A friendly, positive attitude and genuine care for guests
- Reliability and good communication
- The ability to stay calm and quick during a rush
- Restaurant experience (a plus, but we'll train the right person)
- Open weekend availability
- walk for a long period of time
Requirements:
- 16 years or older
- WA Food Worker Card (or obtained before your first shift)
- To serve alcohol (age 18 ): WA MAST permit — Class 13 (18-20) or Class 12 (21 ), within 60 days of starting
Team members under 18:
By Washington law, staff under 18 don't serve alcohol or work the bar. These roles focus on the counter, food running, bussing, and host duties. Applicants under 18 will need a parent/guardian (and school, during the school year) authorization form
Pay & benefits:
- Starts at Washington minimum wage ($17.13/hr) and goes up to $20/hr depending on experience — plus tips
- Paid sick leave and shift meals
