Position Summary:
The Finance Manager at Proof Bread plays a key strategic and operational role in maintaining the financial health of the business. This position is responsible for budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and supporting data-driven decision-making across departments. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and aligned with our mission to build a values-led, sustainable company that’s redefining artisan baking around the globe.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Strategy & Forecasting
- Partner with leadership to develop short- and long-term financial strategies aligned with business goals
- Build and maintain dynamic forecasting models for revenue, expenses, and cash flow
- Analyze trends, costs, and margins to provide actionable insights
Budgeting & Reporting
- Lead annual budgeting process and periodic re-forecasting
- Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Track actuals vs. budget and explain variances with clarity
Cash Flow & Capital Management
- Manage daily and weekly cash flow; anticipate and plan for future liquidity needs
- Oversee debt structure and capital allocations, ensuring smart growth and solvency
- Support financing initiatives, grant applications, and investor reporting as needed
Operations & Process Optimization
- Establish, monitor, and improve financial systems and controls
- Collaborate with department heads (Logistics, Retail, Production, etc.) to track KPIs and cost efficiency
- Manage AR/AP, payroll accuracy checks, and vendor payments in coordination with bookkeeping
Compliance & Risk
- Ensure compliance with federal and state tax requirements and labor-related finance issues
- Liaise with external accountants, lenders, and advisors
- Help model and mitigate financial risk
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field (CPA a plus)
- 5 years in financial management or business finance, ideally in a fast-growing small business
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Excel/Google Sheets, and forecasting tools
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication — able to translate numbers into meaningful stories
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for operational excellence

- Familiarity with EOS a plus
