Senior HR Specialist - Employee Relations
The Senior HR Specialist - Employee Relations is responsible for fostering a positive, respectful, and compliant work environment by managing employee relations matters across the organization. This role serves as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees, providing guidance on performance management, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and employment law compliance. The Employee Relations Manager partners closely with Human Resources and business leaders to mitigate organizational risk, promote employee engagement, and ensure consistent application of company policies and procedures.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, providing guidance and resolution for workplace concerns while ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
Conduct prompt, thorough, and confidential workplace investigations involving employee complaints, policy violations, misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and other employment-related matters.
Coach and advise managers and supervisors on employee performance, coaching, corrective action, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and terminations while minimizing organizational risk.
Interpret and communicate company policies, procedures, and the employee handbook to employees and leadership.
Develop, implement, and improve employee relations policies, programs, and best practices that support a positive workplace culture.
Ensure multi-state compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, providing recommendations to reduce legal and compliance risks.
Manage unemployment claims, including preparing responses, representing the company during appeals and tribunal hearings, and maintaining appropriate documentation.
Identify employee relations trends, analyze data, and recommend proactive solutions to improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace effectiveness.
Partner with managers to support organizational change initiatives, workforce planning, and employee communications.
Support employee recognition and engagement initiatives that promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
Maintain accurate and confidential employee relations documentation and records in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
Work closely with the Benefits Administrator on employee leave matters, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and other protected leaves, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs
Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or equivalent work experience
5 years of employee relations experience preferred
Multi-state HR compliance experience with concentration in Texas and California preferred
Excellent oral, written, presentation and listing skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite products
Collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments
Project Management and Organizational Skills
Maintain a schedule availability flexible to the business needs
