Assistant Athletic Trainer – Mount Vernon, IA
Schedule: Full-time, 10-month contract (August 1 – May 31)
Compensation: $40,000–$45,000 | $750 relocation assistance

Job Summary:
Seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer to support the Head Athletic Trainer in all aspects of the athletic training program. The role includes injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, supervision of sports medicine assistants, and management of the training room. Evening, weekend, and travel responsibilities are required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide injury prevention, evaluation, first aid, emergency care, rehabilitation, and reconditioning for athletes
- Educate and mentor sports medicine assistants
- Support teaching courses in kinesiology as assigned
- Cover athletic practices and events, including travel with teams
- Maintain training room inventory and order supplies
- Assist with record-keeping, injury reports, and medical appointments
- Contribute to departmental emergency plans and procedures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, or related field
- Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC) required
- Active or eligible Iowa state licensure
- CPR/First Aid certification
- Valid driver's license and insurable
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and counseling athletes
- Ability to supervise staff, maintain records, and coordinate care
- Proficiency with training room modalities and orthotic/protective devices
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
Working Conditions:
- Travel required; frequent evenings and weekends
- Indoor and outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, run, bend, twist, climb, and communicate effectively
