Job Summary: Provides dynamic and adaptable interpreter floater responsibilities that include accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation services within the medical department.
CASUAL POSITION : AS NEEDED MONDAY-SATURDAY
SALARY RANGE: Hourly Position
REPORTS TO: Director of Clinical Services
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interprets sensitive information for patients and families as needed before, after, and during the patient/provider encounter, with discretion and tact.
- Communicates service to patient as well as provides educational materials and resources to the patient as directed by the provider.
- Thinks quickly and analytically to resolve ambiguities and convey messages accurately in real-time.
- Adapts, flexes, and adjusts their approach to suit the needs of different clients/patients, environments, and interpreting modalities (such as simultaneous or consecutive interpretation).
- Implements personal stress management techniques to maintain focus, clarity, and composure under pressure or when interpreting sensitive information.
- Assists with general translation needs.
- Works closely with patients to ensure all necessary paperwork is completed correctly.
- Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED
- Certified by the National Board of Certified Medical Interpreters (NBCMI) or the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) (preferred)
