We are exploring the addition of an experienced Web/Front-End Developer to support the design, development, and maintenance of modern, user-centered web applications for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and federal health programs. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with front-end frameworks such as React, strong foundational skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Node.js, and familiarity with web content management systems, including TeamSite, WordPress, SharePoint, or TWIG. This role will collaborate with designers, developers, analysts, and project managers to build responsive, accessible, and intuitive digital experiences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain responsive web interfaces using React, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Develop front-end logic, interactive features, and client-side functionality using JavaScript and Node.js
- Implement reusable components, UI patterns, and front-end architecture aligned with modern best practices
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes, mockups, and user flows into functional interfaces
- Build and update web pages and templates using TeamSite, Drupal, WordPress, SharePoint, TWIG, or similar CMS tools, ensuring sites meet security, accessibility, and branding standards
- Support content updates, site maintenance, and integration of third‑party tools or APIs
- Apply UI/UX principles to improve usability, navigation, and overall user experience
- Participate in user testing, feedback sessions, and iterative design improvements
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2 years of experience in front-end or web development, including experience applying UI/UX principles
- Hands-on experience with React, Angular or other modern front-end frameworks
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and familiarity with Node.js
- Experience with one or more CMS platforms (e.g., TeamSite, Drupal, WordPress, SharePoint, TWIG)
- Understanding of UI/UX principles and responsive design
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
- Authorized to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorship
- Ability to obtain a public trust
- Experience supporting VA or other federal healthcare programs
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508)
- Experience with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch
- Experience with Agile development practices
- Basic understanding of DevOps or CI/CD workflows
