The Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution of contracted services for subcontractors on large, active construction sites. This role requires a highly visible, field-driven leader who can take command of demanding job site environments, maintain operational control, and lead crews with authority, urgency, and accountability.
The ideal candidate has experience managing union labor on complex construction projects, understands the importance of detailed documentation and reporting, and brings a strong superintendent-style leadership presence capable of driving performance and maintaining discipline across the job site.
The Project Manager is responsible for managing the execution of contracted services for sub-contractor on large active construction site.
What You’ll Work On
- Perform duties of manager, superintendent, and/or technician as needed
- Establish and execute daily production goals aligned with project schedules and deadlines
- Lead and support crews ranging from 4 to 8 employees in active construction environments
- Manage union and non-union labor forces while maintaining accountability for productivity, attendance, workmanship, and safety compliance
- Coordinate daily activities with general contractors, union trades, vendors, staffing partners, and home office leadership
- Conduct daily safety briefings and weekly toolbox talks
- Maintain detailed daily and weekly reporting on production, labor activity, incidents, delays, and workforce performance
- Serve as the senior on-site company representative and escalation point for operational and workforce issues
- Other duties as assigned or required
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead daily field operations and adjust manpower based on project demands and operational priorities
- Maintain a strong on-site presence and lead crews with professionalism, urgency, and accountability
- Review upcoming work plans with the site superintendent and proactively address scheduling conflicts or labor challenges
- Effectively manage union labor environments, including coordination with union trades and adherence to site labor expectations
- Hold employees accountable for performance, conduct, safety compliance, and quality of work
- Address personnel and operational issues in real time to prevent disruption to project execution
- Obtain sign-off from the site superintendent for completed work and maintain accurate production records
- Be the first to arrive and the last to leave the job site each day
Safety & Compliance
- Serve as the company’s on-site safety officer
- Conduct daily Pre-Task Plan meetings to review hazards and work scope
- Perform safe work audits and reinforce company safety standards consistently
- Escort and orient new workers as needed
- Ensure all incidents, near misses, corrective actions, and safety concerns are documented thoroughly and communicated appropriately
- Maintain compliance with company policies, client expectations, and site safety requirements
Project & Resource Management
- Interface daily with general contractors, union trades, vendors, staffing agencies, and the home office
- Manage labor resources, equipment, materials, and site logistics to support efficient project execution
- Oversee active work areas, storage locations, consumable inventory, and company equipment
- Coordinate temporary labor needs and workforce adjustments based on project demands
- Maintain relationships with local staffing agencies and service providers
- Order and manage project supplies as needed
Reporting & Documentation
- Generate and manage detailed daily and weekly work reports
- Maintain accurate documentation for labor hours, production tracking, completed work, delays, incidents, and disciplinary actions
- Approve and sign time tickets for temporary workers and ensure labor reporting accuracy
- Complete and submit required company and general contractor documentation on schedule
- Communicate operational updates, workforce concerns, project risks, and schedule impacts to leadership in a timely manner
- Ensure all reporting is organized, professional, complete, and audit-ready
End-of-Shift Tasks
- Oversee the safe and orderly storage of materials and equipment
- Ensure project areas are clean, organized, and secure
- Verify all production reporting and workforce documentation are completed before leaving the site
- OSHA-10 certification required; OSHA-30 preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in construction or mission-critical environments required
- Demonstrated experience managing union labor and operating effectively within union job site environments strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of workforce accountability, labor coordination, and field leadership
- Previous experience in a superintendent, foreman, or field operations leadership role preferred
- Proven ability to lead crews with a firm, field-driven management style and strong on-site leadership presence
- Must be comfortable enforcing expectations, addressing conflict, and making real-time operational decisions
- Exceptional organizational, reporting, and documentation skills required
- Strong verbal and written communication skills required
- Experience managing against project budgets preferred
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and navigate site layouts confidently
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods
- Ability to work up to 50 hours per week, including overtime as needed
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly between cities and job sites

Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
