Position Summary:
The plant manager is responsible for all plant operations including production, purchasing, scheduling, shipping, and customer service. Also responsible for all internal activities effecting production including meeting objectives and maintaining established safety, environmental, quality, cleanliness, productivity and efficiency standards. A significant portion of this plant’s success has been through the implementation of continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
Primary Functions:
- Creates a safety culture and ensures compliance to all EHS regulations. Provides for safety of all employees including implementing established safety requirements, initiating preventative and corrective actions and ensuring employee training.
- Responsible for ensuring all regulatory compliance related to air permitting, Tier 2 reporting, hazardous waste, and boiler inspection and permitting.
- Ensures customer satisfaction through timely delivery of quality products. Follows up and ensures corrective actions are implemented for any failures to meet customer commitments.
- Creates a continuous improvement culture and drives reductions to cost and inventory. Understand basic financial principals, cause and effects and be able to take actions to improve financial performance of the facility.
- Directs the quality control, production performance, maintenance, environmental and plant administrative functions.
- Ensures accurate counting and recording, including electronic reporting, to reflect production, hours, raw material usage and scrap.
- Documents and supports Quality Management System (QMS) for assigned facility.
- Oversees the continual development and updating of the manufacturing operating procedures manuals and the establishment of good manufacturing practices.
- Oversees and coordinates quality inspection system including inspection database, specifications, standards, and procedures. Facilitates decision making regarding material status.
- Works with vendors of raw materials to ensure materials meet production requirements.
- Facilitates supervisory training, monitors attendance, and addresses disciplinary issues.
- Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of responsibilities and, where applicable, selection and development of employees, salary administration, budget administration, employee safety, employee counseling and motivation, organization goals and objectives, and planning and organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department.
- Poses no direct threat to the health or safety of himself/herself, of others, or to property. Defined as a significant risk of substantial harm that cannot be eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level by reasonable accommodation.
- Requires regular attendance to perform essential element as contained herein between the assigned start and end times for work.
- Performs such individual assignments as management may direct.
- Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Education and Experience:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Operations Management, or significant equivalent manufacturing experience. Holding an MBA is preferred.
Experience/Knowledge
- 5 years of manufacturing experience including proven success at leading direct reports.
- Strong ability to lead improvement of both manual and automated systems.
- Proven track record of delivering results in a high-performance continuous improvement environment using lean tools and methodologies.
- Experience leading change initiatives with change management techniques.
- Proven success working with a team to implement and audit systems that drove performance improvements in key metrics (KPI's).
- Business application software experience is a must
- Strong knowledge/background in Lean Manufacturing

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Exposure to moderate noise, wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; and fumes or airborne particles.
