About the Role
Join a leading aerospace and defense organization supporting the Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit. This team designs and manufactures critical spacecraft components used in satellites, including panels, structures, solar arrays, and antenna systems.
As a Mechanical Technician 2, you will support manufacturing operations by assembling, testing, and maintaining mechanical components and subassemblies in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform fabrication and assembly of mechanical components and subassemblies
- Set up, test, and troubleshoot prototype units under operational conditions
- Support manufacturing operations including calibration, rework, and quality testing
- Collect and analyze production data to optimize processes and performance
- Assist in developing and improving manufacturing procedures and methods
- Handle and manage composite materials, including bonding and prep work
- Ensure proper documentation for adhesive usage, traceability, and material controls
- Use measurement tools (calipers, rulers, tape measures) for fabrication accuracy
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and shop instructions
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
Basic Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of related experience or technical training
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Ability to read, write, and follow technical instructions in English
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work flexible hours, overtime, and varying shifts
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics
- Familiarity with hand tools and torque techniques
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace or composites manufacturing environments
- Experience with bonding and composite material handling
- Knowledge of ISO standards and manufacturing compliance
- Experience with cranes, rigging, forklifts, or similar equipment
- Familiarity with electronic test equipment (DMMs, power supplies, source meters)
- Strong multitasking, prioritization, and problem-solving skills
