Mechanical Engineer β Plastics Extrusion & Converting
Location: Pawcatuck, Connecticut
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Experience: 7β10 years
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with strong expertise in SolidWorks, plastics extrusion, converting, and Engineer-to-Order (ETO) machinery. The ideal candidate will support multiple machine projects while working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
This is an onsite position, and local candidates are strongly preferred.
- Design and develop mechanical components and machinery using SolidWorks CAD.
- Support plastics extrusion and converting machinery projects from design through manufacturing.
- Prepare and maintain manufacturing documentation, Bills of Materials (BOMs), drawings, and engineering documentation.
- Work with PDM/PLM systems for engineering data and document management.
- Support multiple concurrent machine projects and manage priorities effectively.
- Coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Support Engineer-to-Order (ETO) machinery development and customization.
- Review designs for manufacturability, functionality, and production requirements.
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve design and production issues.
- Provide engineering support throughout the machine development and manufacturing process.
- Contribute effectively with minimal onboarding and take ownership of assigned engineering activities.
- 6 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
- Strong hands-on experience with SolidWorks CAD.
- 4 years of experience with plastics extrusion and converting.
- Strong experience with manufacturing documentation and BOMs.
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems.
- Experience supporting multiple concurrent machine projects.
- Experience with Engineer-to-Order (ETO) machinery.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
- Ability to work independently with minimal onboarding.
- Strong mechanical design and manufacturing knowledge.
- Experience designing industrial machinery or custom equipment.
- Experience in plastics processing, extrusion, converting, or related manufacturing equipment.
- Strong understanding of machine design and manufacturing processes.
- Candidates who are local to Pawcatuck, CT or nearby areas are strongly preferred.
