Overview
We are a local kitchen cabinet and countertop showroom in Milford, CT, looking for a reliable and professional Showroom Receptionist / Office Assistant to help with daily showroom and office tasks.
This position is mainly for someone who can be present in the showroom, greet walk-in customers, answer basic questions, take down customer information, help schedule appointments, and keep the showroom organized. The right person should be friendly, professional, computer literate, and comfortable speaking with customers.
Kitchen cabinet, countertop, remodeling, sales, or showroom experience is a plus, but not required. Experience with 2020 Design software is also a plus, but this is not mainly a kitchen designer position. We are looking for someone who can help manage the front of the showroom and assist customers when the owner/designer is not available.
- Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet walk-in customers in a professional and friendly way
- Answer basic questions about our kitchen cabinet, countertop, and remodeling services
- Take down customer information, including name, phone number, email, address, and basic project details
- Ask customers basic project questions, such as what they are looking to do, when they want to start, and whether they need cabinets, countertops, or installation
- Show customers cabinet door samples, countertop samples, hardware, and showroom displays
- Help schedule showroom appointments, measurements, and follow-up calls
- Keep the showroom clean, organized, and presentable
- Answer phone calls and respond to basic customer inquiries
- Help follow up with leads by phone, text, or email when needed
- Assist with basic office tasks, paperwork, estimates, and customer files
- Help keep track of samples, brochures, and showroom materials
- Communicate customer questions or project details to the owner/designer
- Basic computer work, including email, scheduling, and entering customer information
- Experience with kitchen cabinets, countertops, remodeling, sales, or 2020 Design software is a plus, but not required
- In the future, may assist with field measurements if properly trained
Experience
- Proven experience working at a front desk or in an office environment with strong customer service skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer literacy including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace tools.
- Previous clerical or administrative experience with familiarity in data entry, filing systems, and office management tasks.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to effectively communicate with diverse clients and team members.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently while managing time effectively.
- Experience using multi-line phone systems and handling phone etiquette professionally.
- Personal assistant or office support experience that includes calendar management, proofreading documents, or bookkeeping is a plus.
Experience
No kitchen design experience is required. We are willing to train the right person.
Customer service, receptionist, office assistant, retail, sales, or showroom experience is preferred.
Experience with kitchen cabinets, countertops, remodeling, interior design, or 2020 Design software is a plus, but not required.
The most important qualities are being professional, reliable, friendly with customers, computer literate, and comfortable speaking English.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
