POSITION SUMMARY:

The Finance Grants Manager (FGM) is an on-site role, responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of government and private grants, ensuring financial compliance, accurate budgeting, and timely reporting from award through closeout. This role tracks federal fund spending and partners closely with the Finance team to ensure that all federal grant expenditures are recorded correctly in the general ledger. The FGM works across departments to develop grant budgets, provide key financial inputs for grant proposals, and jointly monitor spending to support full and timely use of awarded funds.

The position manages a six to eight million dollar portfolio of government and private foundation grants, representing roughly forty percent of the agency’s annual revenue. The FGM also serves as the Finance team’s main point of contact for internal and external partners.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Professional-level experience in grant accounting, compliance, and budget management.
  • Proficiency in financial software, grant management software, and advanced Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, formulas).
  • Records management.
  • Must have the ability to multitask, manage time effectively and meet critical deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to communicate complex financial information to staff and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding problem-solving and organizational abilities.

QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200), and federal/private funding regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as primary grants management contact for internal and external partners.
  • Creates, reviews, and manages grant budgets, ensuring compliance with funder terms, regulations, and approved proposals.
  • Responsible for preparing and submitting grant contract budget revisions.
  • Tracks grant spending, monitors budgets, and ensures expenses are allowable, allocable, and reasonable per 2 CFR Part 200 or funder requirements.
  • Prepares financial reports and expense trackers for submission to government and private funders (close-out reports). 
  • Reviews and approves grant invoices before being submitted by AR & Revenue Accountant.
  • Maintains detailed financial records and prepares documentation for annual audits, including the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).
  • Works closely with other Finance team members to ensure grant expenditures are being recorded appropriately at the grant level.
  • Maintains contract and grant files and keeps them organized.
  • Periodically reviews and updates standard operating procedures for grants management.
  • Works with Program staff, Development teams, and Leadership to ensure alignment on grant deliverables and compliance.
