What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Counselor position at Project Hospitality?
The CASAC Counselor responsibilities include:
- Conduct pre-intake client screenings
- Conduct alcohol and other drug withdrawal and drug use assessments and screenings
- Complete a comprehensive assessment on each client
- Maintains and coordinates a client caseload
- Provide individual and group counseling
- Document all client care services and maintain chart documentation, paperwork for referring agencies and outside support services
- Conducts client orientation and discharge planning for clients
- Coordinate care with external and internal providers/resources (i.e. court appointments, medical procedures, parole/probation)
- In coordination with clinical team develop and implement a substance abuse and/or relapse prevention treatment plan for the client.
- Develop and implement a substance abuse /relapse prevention and recovery related group curricula
- Attend all appropriate meetings, participate in appropriate case conferences, treatment plan meetings
- Supervise clients adherence to program and regulations
- Perform various other tasks and responsibilities as appropriate and required
- Perform necessary follow-up on clients' request for outside appointments, phone calls, home visits. Also responsible for discussing client outside activities as they relate to the clients' sobriety and or relapse.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience working with co-occurring disorders; Working knowledge of evidence based practices ; Working knowledge of recovery, addiction and relapse process, understanding of mental health and domestic violence issues; ability to manage crisis situations; Good interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to work as member of interdisciplinary team; Bilingual a plus
Mental health and chemical dependency knowledge/skills, experience with diverse adult populations, ability to perform client care in line with best practices and theoretical models. Good ability to prepare client care forms accurately and in a timely manner. Very good time management skills. Ability to work independently, schedule clients and follow-up on clients care. multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications:Qualifications:
CASAC Counselor will have a CASAC certification with at least two years' work experience in addiction field, preferably in a residential setting; Minimum Bachelor's degree required Familiarity with OASAS policies and regulations
Proficient in computer skills and documenting in agency electronic records data base.
