Description

If you are looking for a place where you can make a difference in the life of a child, Project Harmony is looking for you.  We are seeking an experienced and committed Director of Mental Health Services to join our dynamic and innovative organization.  Reporting to the VP of Clinical Services, the Director of Mental Health Services provides strategic and clinical leadership for Project Harmony’s mental health team. This position ensures the delivery of efficient, high-quality, and trauma-informed therapy that meets the needs of children and families impacted by abuse, trauma, and mental health challenges. 


The Director is responsible for overseeing clinical supervision, program integration, compliance, and continuous quality improvement while collaborating across departments and with community partners to enhance outcomes. The role also supports program development, data-driven decision-making, and professional development, with occasional direct service delivery as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership for the mental health therapist team and department   
  • Deliver clinical supervision, leadership, and coaching to the mental health team; monitor service delivery to ensure model fidelity and quality of care; and conduct performance reviews
  • Lead the integration of mental health services across the agency
  • Maintain program compliance with HIPAA, state behavioral health regulations, Project Harmony’s internal quality standards and NCA accreditation
  • Collaborate with the VP of Clinical Services and the Director of Clinic Operations and Advocacy to integrate administrative needs of the clinic and to maximize mental health outcomes for clients and families
  • Evaluate Clinical Services mental health access to care process and current database and implement policies and procedures as needed for quality improvement
  • Serve as a resource for Project Harmony employees and investigative partners in identifying and resolving child and family behavioral and mental health concerns
  • Support mental health team in achieving expected mental health outcomes and promoting professional development
  • Ensure culturally competent services are provided to all families served by Project Harmony without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, socioeconomic status, disability, gender or sexual orientation
  • Identify new programs and educational/support/treatment groups for existing programs to meet the demands of changing mental health needs in the community
  • Monitor and evaluate Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) requirements and develop areas in need of improvement
  • Collaborate with the VP of Clinical Services to monitor utilization and costs, evaluate services and outcomes, prepare monthly reports, and support grant writing and reporting
  • Deliver presentations on evidence-based practices locally, regionally and nationally
  • Regularly connect with other urban mental health clinicians to explore best practices within the CAC environment and initiate local program improvements accordingly
  • May provide direct services to children and families as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Clinical Services




Requirements

Qualifications

Education 

  • Graduate degree preferred in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field
  • Licensed practitioner in social work, counseling, public administration, psychology, or related field preferred, active in the state of Nebraska


Experience and Training

  • 3 years of experience as a mental health clinical supervisor, trauma informed practices and working with individuals exposed to trauma
  • Experience with program development, evaluation and leadership
  • 5 years of progressive senior leadership experience in non-profit organizations or clinical program leadership


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent clinical supervision skills and working knowledge of evidence-based mental health and prevention models
  • Knowledge of non-profit administration, program development, research and the utilization of clinical data, fiscal management and supervision of employees
  • Knowledge of trauma responsive practices and working with individuals exposed to trauma
  • Knowledge of systems related to the provision of mental health services including insurance and legislative systems
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, compliance standards, and accreditation processes 
  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with co-workers, key stakeholders and business partners
  • Strong crisis management skills and ability to effectively resolve conflict
  • Must be a self-starter and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Excellent active listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of and use of all Microsoft Suite products
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to stressful and ever-changing situations
  • Demonstrated problem-solving, multi-tasking and time management skills
  • Support a team culture that welcomes change and leads with a growth mindset
  • Must respect and maintain confidentiality

Other

  • Must submit to a thorough criminal history background check
  • Must have access to a vehicle, possess a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance
  • Must be flexible with occasional evening and weekend availability
  • Position involves some travel, primarily within the state
