Position Summary
Project GRAD Kenai Peninsula is seeking a dedicated and versatile Site Coordinator / Afterschool Academic Coach to lead and support the delivery of high-quality afterschool programming for middle-grade students (grades 5-8) at three rural school sites as part of the CHILL program in the PYDAP grant.

his hybrid role includes both program leadership and hands-on instruction. The Site Coordinator/Coach is responsible for supervising academic coaches and overseeing daily site operations, while also directly delivering STEAM-based, social-emotional learning, and youth development activities. This position plays a central role in building a safe, enriching, and culturally responsive afterschool environment that supports student growth, academic engagement, and positive life choicesincluding reducing youth involvement with cannabis products, per Alaska Department of Health prevention goals.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Site Oversight
Bachelor's degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field; Alaska Teaching
Certificate preferred.
Minimum of three years of experience working with youth in classroom or out-of-school settings.
Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to experiential, hands-on learning.
Demonstrated ability to connect with and motivate upper lementary and middle school students.

- Location:** Office is based in Homer, Alaska, but programming is in Anchor Point, Razdolna, and Voznesenka (school-based settings)
- Status:** Full-Time (40 hrs/week), for approximately 10 months, August 11, 2025 - May 31, 2026.

Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Site Oversight
- Serve as the lead staff member across three PYDAP sites (Anchor Point, Razdolna,Voznesenka),
- Supervise and support Afterschool Academic Coaches (2) in lesson planning, implementation, and professional development follow-through.
- Coordinate program scheduling, logistics, and communication with GRAD leadership, school staff,and families.
- Implement and model trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and youth-centered practices.
- Design and facilitate afterschool lessons in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts,Math), Integrative Youth Development, and mindfulness.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that supports academic achievement,social-emotional skills, and protective factor development.
- Monitor and manage student behavior, ensuring consistency with positive behavior supports andclassroom management strategies.
- Inspire and build relationships with students, serving as a trusted adult and mentor.
- Collect and submit required data on attendance, student progress, and program outcomes tosupport grant reporting and evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with the Executive Director and external evaluators to assess program impactand quality.
- Support continuous improvement efforts through participation in the Youth Program Quality Initiative (YPQI).
