What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Staff position at Project 14:14 Inc.?
Project 14:14 Inc. is looking for daytime, evening and weekends available Direct Care staff to work with female youth in our STRTP. Direct Care staff are responsible to ensure the adequate treatment and supervision for all youth residents in the 24 hours continuum, to meet Community Care Licensing regulations, and to support the program through increased communication and continuity of treatment. All Direct Care Staff report directly to the Facility Administrator and must be a minimum of 21 years of age, pass all background clearances and meet the following educational and/or experience requirements.
Qualifications and experience:
(Must possess at least one of the following):
- BA or BS degree.
- A valid Child Development Teaching Permit.
- Completed 12 semester units of Early Childhood Education, Adolescent Development, or Foster and Kinship Care Education and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
- A valid certificate as an Alcohol Counselor, Drug Counselor, or Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth.
- A valid vocational training certificate, credential or documentation demonstrating that the individual is a trade journeyperson who instructs children in vocational skills and have at least 100 hours of experience working with youth as a mentor, athletic coach, teacher, vocational coach, tutor, counselor, or other relevant experience as determined by the executive director.
- Previously been employed as a full-time staff or served as a volunteer at a group home, short-term residential therapeutic program, or substance abuse treatment program for at least one year.
- Relevant life experience in the child welfare, mental health or juvenile justice systems as a consumer, mentor or caregiver or other relevant experience as determined by the executive director.
Requirements:
- Possess a valid CA driver’s license with no restrictions
- Must pass all mandated security clearances, prior to employment
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Certified in CPR and First Aid
- Must pass TB and Health Screening
- Random drug testing may be required
Duties:
- Provide constant supervision to residents in accordance with the policies of the facility and trauma-informed principles of the program in a 24 hour group home setting.
- Support the needs of residents in a culturally and linguistically responsible manner.
- Document mental health interventions and all other interactions in accordance with the program.
- Assist residents as they get ready for school, including hygiene and dress; dispersing prescribed medications.
- Check-in with daytime staff, read shift exchange and Incident Reports during transitions/shift changes.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs of children served in a children’s residential setting.
- Skills and abilities to engage in rapport with children who have various backgrounds.
- Skills and abilities to provide consistency and behavioral support through trauma-informed, relationship-based interventions.
- Driving clients to and from appointments in company vehicles; all other company errands as needed.
- Housekeeping as needed.
