Title: Quality Technician/PPAP 

Reports to: Quality Manager

Direct Reports: No

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform dimensional inspections using CMM (manual and/or automated) and Faro Arm equipment with Polyworks software.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T symbols to verify part compliance.
  • Document inspection results in accordance with internal procedures and customer requirements.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI), in-process inspections, and final inspections.
  • Maintain calibration and cleanliness of inspection tools and equipment.
  • Coordinate and compile PPAP documentation (Levels 1–5), including Design Records, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, Dimensional Results, Material and Performance Test Results, Initial Process Studies (SPC), Appearance Approvals (if applicable), Sample Production Parts, and Master Sample/Checking Aids documentation.
  • Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to gather and validate required PPAP elements.
  • Submit PPAP packages to customers and track approval status.
  • Maintain organized and auditable PPAP records.
  • Support customer audits and respond to PPAP-related inquiries.
  • Issue Quality Alerts
  • Maintain calibration records and perform periodic verification of gauges, fixtures, and inspection equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and compliance with internal and customer requirements.
  • Utilize High QA software to manage inspection documentation, automate ballooned drawings, generate inspection reports, and support PPAP and FAI submission processes efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support team flexibility and shop efficiency.

 Qualifications:

  • Proficient with CMM machines and Faro Arm operation.
  • Proficient with PolyWorks software.
  • Solid understanding of PPAP process and automotive quality requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, ability to read blueprints and CAD models.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • High ethical standards.
  • Objectivity and sound judgement.
  • Ability to think analytically and independently.
  • Ability to work effectively on their own as well as with others at all levels of the organization.

 Working Conditions:

  • Typically, in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels requiring use of appropriate personal protective equipment; however, in some circumstances, this position requires working in an office/laboratory environment with low noise levels, not requiring us of appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Must occasionally lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Workday of eight (8) hours with mandatory overtime possible, dependent on workload.
  • Occasionally required to work off-shifts (other than normal office hours).
  • Typically, a higher degree of stress that requires multi-tasking of several projects/tasks simultaneously.

 Licenses/Certifications:

  • No special licenses or certifications are required.

 Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and analyze part prints.
  • Three (3) years in quality or manufacturing-related position.
  • Proficient with CMM machines and Faro Arm operation.
  • Proficient with PolyWorks software.
  • Familiarity with High QA software.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
