What are the responsibilities and job description for the QUALITY INSPECTOR position at Progressive Metal Mfg Co?
Title: Quality Inspector Reports to: Quality Manager
Duties & Tasks
- Perform routine quality audits throughout the production facility
- Perform in-process inspections on production floor, including first-piece and last-piece inspections
- Perform dimensional layout inspection as required
- Perform quality-related training for employees
- Perform receiving inspection and random dock audits
- Preform calibration activities occasionally to verify specifications
- Follow all policies and procedures
- Visit suppliers and customers as required
- Sort product for quality defects as required
- Provide back-up coverage for other quality positions as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior quality engineer or quality manager
- Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

Technical Knowledge

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to read and analyze part prints.
- Six (6) months inspection experience in the metal industry.
- Full understanding of the proper use of measurement devices such as height gages, calipers, micrometers, protractors, pressure gages, etc.
