Summary: We are looking for a full time estimator. Once we receive a plan set to bid, you will do a light fixture and switch gear (distribution) take off using Bluebeam. This will be sent to suppliers to bid costs. You will then take off all the conduit, wire, and other materials essential to build. You will need experience with electrical work (commercial / industrial), know how to use excel to track costs and total, know how to read plans, deal with changes, manage multiple suppliers and jobs at once, proficient with using computer. You will use all this information to create a proposal to send to each customer or GC.

Role Description The Electrical Estimator is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for reviewing plans, specifications, and project documents to prepare accurate material and labor estimates for electrical projects. The Electrical Estimator will perform quantity takeoffs, solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes, and prepare detailed cost summaries and bid proposals. Daily tasks include coordinating with project managers and electrical contracting teams, identifying value engineering opportunities, and assisting with budget development and cost control throughout the project lifecycle. The role also involves maintaining current knowledge of local codes, industry standards, and market pricing to ensure competitive and compliant estimates.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in electrical estimating, including quantity takeoffs, bid preparation, and proposal development.
- Experience with cost control, budgeting, and cost analysis for commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Background in electrical contracting, including familiarity with field operations, installation methods, and project workflows.
- Solid understanding of electricity principles and electrical engineering fundamentals relevant to building systems.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with construction management software is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and clients.
- Prior experience as an Electrical Estimator or in a similar role within the electrical construction industry preferred.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
