Company Description
A family owned commercial an industrial electrical contractor in the Gilbert, Arizona market is accepting applications for the position of entry-level or mid-level Assistant Project Manager. This is a hands-on role in the corporate office that will work directly with project managers.
Responsibilities:
- Writing and issuing official RFI’s (requests for information)
- Securing, creating, and issuing submittal
- Management of project drawing, ensuring that the office and the field have the most current version
- Includes updating Bluebeam or PlanGrid
- Develop standard processes
- Creating/maintaining of submittal Archive of standard documents of products used to submit on
- Creating templates on how to do certain submittals
- Project management
- Assist the Project Manager in developing project schedules, timelines, and milestones using tools such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project
- Help prepare and maintain project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, and daily reports
- Assisting project billing with CFO and or Billing team
- Attending OAC (Owner, Architect, Contractor) meeting and providing updates on deliverable as well as coordinating with field personnel
- Discussing needs with clients/GCs (General Contractors) and assisting in addressing those needs
- Managing Change and tracking contract values with change orders to ensure contract amount is accurate with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software
- Coordinate with engineers, general contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure project alignment
- Meeting with panel shop crew regularly to ensure all procured parts are received and functioning per design intent
- Procurement
- Support procurement activities including material takeoffs, purchase orders, and equipment tracking
- Releasing approved submittal equipment and providing tracking to field and client
- Securing missing procurement items that were not picked up in the estimate
- Securing individual items for control panels via vendors or websites
- Communication & Reporting
- Maintain clear and consistent communication between field crews, project management, and clients
- Attend and participate in owner, GC, and internal project meetings; prepare and distribute meeting minutes
- Sales Calls
- Answering the All-call phone when Front desk staff are not present
- Field sales calls should the assigned PM not be available
- Sending information over to associated PM of opportunity to follow up on
- Visit with vendors that come to shop should other PMs not be available
- Preconstruction assistance
- Assist estimating team on securing bids from vendors for projects
- Assist estimating team on Take offs and assembling bids/ proposals
- Field correspondence from bidding system to tracking log and estimating team
- Attend job walks with clients as needed
- Assist in evaluation of bid invitations to determine if they will be pursued or not
- Assist in final review of project prior to be sent to client
Preferred Skills, Qualifications & Certifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Construction management, or a related field (or equivalent field experience)
- 2–5 years of experience in industrial electrical construction (petrochemical, manufacturing, power generation, water/waste water, data centers, etc.)
- Working knowledge of the NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA electrical safety standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Procore and Bluebeam
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical construction drawings and specifications
- Journeyman Electrician
- Experience with industrial systems: 480V–15kV distribution, instrumentation, PLC/SCADA integration
- Experience working on union job sites and familiarity with IBEW labor agreements
Salary
- Entry-level (0–2 years): $60,000 – $75,000/yr
- Mid-level (3–5 years): $75,000 – $90,000/yr, plus bonus. Benefits include health insurance, matching 401(k) and profit sharing plan, and paid time off.
