Position Summary
The Systems Administrator maintains and optimizes Wake Orthopaedics IT environment by identifying system requirements, installing upgrades, monitoring performance, and providing advanced support. This position serves as the go-to technical resource for Wake Orthopaedics, ensuring smooth daily operations, effective problem resolution, and proactive planning for future needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for servers, networks, and clinical applications.
- Troubleshoot system performance, capacity, and reliability.
- Deploy, maintain, and manage:
- Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint, Office 365
- Manage onboarding processes (account creation, secure access setup, group memberships).
- Serve as a technical liaison with IT staff, providers, and external vendors.
- Support telecommunications, printers, fax, and copier operations.
- Coordinate hardware/software deployment, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Manage IT procurement, licensing, invoicing, and vendor quotes.
- Partner with leadership and construction/development teams on capacity planning for new facilities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, WakeMed policies, and IT security standards.
- Document system changes, maintain operational standards, and attend scheduled team meetings.

Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in server/network administration.
- Healthcare or medical office IT experience strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with:
- Windows environment administration
- Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365
- VMware/Hyper-V, SAN/NAS
- Networking and VPN technologies
- Remote support tools (e.g., RealVNC, BeyondTrust)
- VoIP, fax, and telecommunications systems
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex problems and implement practical solutions.
- Flexibility to work across multiple sites and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills
- Prior experience supporting IT in a healthcare environment.
- Experience with SharePoint and custom Windows image deployment.
- Familiarity with asset management and IT procurement processes.
- Conflict resolution and cross-departmental communication skills.
Working Conditions
