Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced RPG Programmer to join our IT applications team in Cleveland, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IBM i (AS/400) systems development, maintenance, and modernization. You will be responsible for designing, coding, testing, and supporting RPG applications that are critical to our business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business requirements and develop technical specifications for RPG applications.
- Design, develop, test, and implement new programs using RPG IV, RPG Free, and ILE techniques.
- Maintain, debug, and enhance existing RPG and CL programs.
- Write and optimize embedded SQL within RPG programs.
- Create and maintain data integrations with other systems (files, APIs, SQL databases, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in a timely manner.
- Document system changes and technical procedures.
- Collaborate with business users, analysts, and IT team members to deliver system solutions.
- Participate in system modernization efforts, including converting older RPG code to free-format or newer platforms.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
- 5 years of experience in IBM i / AS400 application development using RPG (RPG III, IV, or Free-format).
- Proficiency with CL programming, DDS, and embedded SQL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- Experience supporting production environments and troubleshooting legacy code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work on-site full-time in Cleveland, Ohio.
