Our Field Service team plays a critical role in supporting customers through installation, troubleshooting, repair, rebuilds, and maintenance of industrial pumps and rotating equipment.
We are seeking a highly skilled mid/senior-level Field Service Technician who brings strong mechanical expertise, leadership, and field experience to support customer equipment both onsite and in the field. This role is ideal for an experienced technician who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, mentoring others, and taking ownership of projects from start to finish.
Position Summary
The Field Service Technician is responsible for leading field service activities involving installation, troubleshooting, repair, alignment, startup, and maintenance of industrial pumps, rotating equipment, and mechanical systems. This position serves as a technical resource within the service team and requires strong troubleshooting capabilities, leadership skills, and the ability to work independently in customer environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field service activities involving industrial pumps, rotating equipment, motors, seals, and mechanical systems
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, repair, rebuilds, and preventative maintenance activities
- Lead pump installations, removals, rebuilds, equipment startup, and commissioning activities
- Perform field alignment utilizing laser alignment equipment and traditional alignment methods
- Execute rigging, lifting, equipment moving, and material handling activities safely and efficiently
- Diagnose equipment failures and determine root causes for mechanical and operational issues
- Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior technicians and shop personnel
- Interpret mechanical drawings, technical documentation, repair procedures, and specifications
- Coordinate service activities with customers, project teams, and internal departments
- Complete service reports, inspection documentation, and work order information accurately and timely
- Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures including PPE, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices
- Support emergency service calls, shutdowns, and customer-critical service activities as required
Qualifications Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in field service, industrial maintenance, pump repair, rotating equipment, or related mechanical industries
- Experience as a pump mechanic, diesel mechanic, industrial mechanic, millwright, outfitter, or related mechanical trade
- Extensive experience with pump installation, rebuilds, and rotating equipment maintenance
- Experience with laser alignment, field alignment, rigging, and equipment moving activities
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex mechanical issues independently
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and repair documentation
- Must possess own basic hand tools required for field service work
- Clean driving record required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Ability to travel frequently and work overtime, weekends, shutdown schedules, and emergency service calls when needed
Preferred:
- CDL Class C license preferred
- Experience leading service projects or mentoring technicians
- Technical certifications, trade school education, or mechanical training
- Experience working with industrial pumping systems, rotating equipment, and heavy mechanical equipment
- Experience working within industrial manufacturing, power generation, water/wastewater, chemical, or heavy industrial environments
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, crawl, climb, and work in industrial environments for extended periods
- Ability to work indoors, outdoors, elevated surfaces, confined spaces, and non-temperature-controlled environments
- Frequent travel to customer locations
