Job Summary
The Parts Manager is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the parts department which services the Northeast Fleet Shop. This role will oversee the procurement, inventory management and distribution of parts, ensuring seamless operations that support the repair team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the entire parts inventory including ordering, stocking and tracking to meet operational demands.
- Forecast and maintain optimal inventory levels while balancing demand with cost efficiency.
- Oversee the purchase process, including negotiating prices and terms with suppliers while ensuring timely procurement and delivery of parts and accessories.
- Manage parts ordering, receiving, stocking procedures, cycle counting and recordkeeping.
- Implement and maintain inventory and cost control systems.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Work collaboratively with repair team to ensure timely parts availability and delivery for repairs.
- Other duties as need or as assigned.
Requirements
- HS Diploma and at least five years of experience in a parts department in the automotive or trucking industry.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate employees.
- The ability to provide exceptional customer service and resolve issues effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to oversee multiple tasks and deadlines.
- The ability to negotiate prices and terms with suppliers for profitability.
- Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment, with long periods of standing, bending, stooping, kneeling and lifting
- Must be physically able to lift up to 75lbs.
Preferred Industry Experience
- Familiar with inventory management software and understanding of industry-specific parts and components.
- Proven experience with managing heavy duty truck parts.
- Knowledgeable on OSHA safety regulation.
