Field Service Technician

Professional Business Systems
Rogers, AR Full Time
POSTED ON 9/11/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/9/2027

Overview: Professional Business Systems is hiring a Field Service Technician to keep our clients’ copiers, multifunction devices, and printers running. This is a hands-on, hardware-first role. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and image quality faults, perform scheduled preventive maintenance, and install and relocate equipment across our service territory in a company provided vehicle. Roughly 75 percent of the work is physical break/fix and maintenance. The remaining 25 percent is device level connectivity: putting machines on the network, loading print drivers, configuring scan to email and scan to folder, and applying firmware. Anything deeper is escalated to Technical Support. PBS operates on a WIRED culture (Winning, Integrity, Respect, Excellence, Discipline).

Reports to: Print Service Delivery Manager

Qualifications / Skills:

· High school diploma and/or GED required. Manufacturer certifications (Kyocera, Konica Minolta, HP) are a plus. Factory training and certification are completed after hire, and you are expected to keep expanding the product lines you can support.

· Minimum 1 to 3 years of hands-on electromechanical repair experience. Copier, MFP, or printer field service is preferred; comparable equipment repair experience will be considered.

· Strong mechanical aptitude, with the ability to work at the component level on fusers, drums, developer units, rollers, boards, and finishing devices.

· Working knowledge of LAN fundamentals including TCP/IP and static versus DHCP addressing, print driver installation on Windows and Mac, and scan configuration through SMTP and SMB.

· Proficient with a Windows laptop or tablet, ERP and mobile dispatch platforms, and standard office applications.

· Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize a daily call board and stay composed under pressure.

· Customer facing experience with sound judgment, discretion, and initiative to drive processes to completion.

· Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds and to safely maneuver larger devices using proper equipment. The role involves frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and extended periods on your feet at client sites.

· Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening. Random or for-cause testing may apply.

Travel & Vehicle Requirements:

· Primary coverage is the Northwest Arkansas market. Occasional statewide travel is possible, typically fewer than two or three day trips per month. A company vehicle is provided.

· Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and clean driving record, subject to periodic review.

· Responsible for the condition, cleanliness, and accurate parts inventory of the assigned vehicle.

Responsibilities:

· This role carries direct responsibility for uptime, first-call resolution, and the customer experience at the point of service.

·

o Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and image quality faults on copiers, MFPs, and printers, including component replacement and adjustment to manufacturer specification.

o Work from error codes, service manuals, firmware level detail, and device counters to identify root cause rather than treating symptoms.

o Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and PM kit replacement at required meter intervals, replacing wear parts before they fail rather than after.

o Complete installations, de-installations, and relocations, including network configuration and verification that the device is fully functional before leaving the site.

o Perform spot checks and proactive inspections while on site to get ahead of developing issues.

o Adhere to safety protocols and company policies on every job.

·

o Place devices on the client network, including IP addressing, hostname, and port configuration, and confirm communication before the call is closed.

o Install and troubleshoot print drivers and print queues on Windows and Mac workstations.

o Configure and troubleshoot scan to email and scan to folder using SMTP and SMB, along with address books and LDAP lookups where applicable.

o Apply firmware updates and adjust device settings through the embedded web interface.

o Verify Data Collection Agent (DCA) connectivity so meter reads and supply automation keep reporting accurately.

o Know where the device ends and the infrastructure begins. Escalate network, server, and document management software issues to Technical Support with clear diagnostic notes, and coordinate with client IT on access, credentials, and change windows.

·

o Respond promptly to dispatched service requests, communicate arrival expectations, and work calls in priority order to protect response and resolution SLAs.

o Arrive prepared. Review device history before the call, carry the parts the call is likely to require, and resolve the issue in a single visit whenever possible.

o Confirm the fix in the customer workflow before closing the call to limit callbacks.

o Document call notes, diagnostics performed, parts consumed, meter readings, and resolution in the dispatch system before closing the call. If it is not recorded, it did not happen.

o Maintain accurate car stock and return defective parts and cores promptly.

o Meet or exceed productivity and quality expectations, including calls per day, first-call fix rate, callback rate, parts cost per call, and preventive maintenance compliance.

o Share fixes, known issues, and best practices with the team so recurring problems get solved once.

·

o Capture meter reads during service visits and resolve devices that are not reporting automatically.

o Assist clients with consumable management and recommend reorder levels and schedules.

·

o Explain what was found and what was done in language the end user understands, and coach users on basic operation, driver use, and scanning workflows to reduce avoidable service calls.

o Identify aging equipment, configuration gaps, and unmet needs, and relay those observations to the sales team and service leadership.

o Support the sales team with technical insight during client consultations.

o Represent PBS professionally in appearance, conduct, and communication on every site visit.
