We are partnering with a well-established commercial real estate organization seeking an experienced Building Engineer to support the operation and maintenance of a Class A commercial property portfolio. This individual will play a key role in ensuring building systems operate efficiently while delivering a safe, well-maintained environment for tenants and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on commercial building systems, equipment, and grounds.
- Monitor, inspect, and maintain HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, fire/life safety, and building automation systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues, completing repairs in a timely manner.
- Complete work orders, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance while maintaining accurate service documentation.
- Perform general building maintenance, including painting, drywall repair, caulking, and minor carpentry.
- Maintain interior and exterior building conditions, including roofs, drains, and common areas.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency situations, coordinating additional resources when necessary.
- Assist with energy management initiatives to improve building efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Replace and repair lighting fixtures, lamps, and ballasts throughout the property.
- Coordinate and oversee outside contractors and vendors on maintenance projects as needed.
- Support day-to-day building operations and perform additional maintenance responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school training is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial building maintenance or building engineer experience.
- Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, building automation, and general mechanical systems.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting a variety of commercial building equipment.
- Familiarity with energy management systems and best practices.
- Relevant trade certifications or licenses (HVAC, electrical, boiler, refrigeration, etc.) are highly preferred.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with vendors and property management teams.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, overtime, or occasional shift work as business needs require.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and stoop.
- Safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Work in mechanical rooms, rooftops, and other areas typical of commercial building operations.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations, including extended hours when necessary.
