POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Production Shop Supervisor, the Gear Technician services aircraft landing gear components through troubleshooting, diagnostic testing, and parts replacement at the component/depot level using manuals and other data. This position requires strong mechanical ability and great attention to detail. A Gear Technician must be willing to accomplish both repetitive and unfamiliar tasks on a regular basis with the use of aviation repair manuals.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)
| • | Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs of components such as landing gear and related components. |
| • | Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine the feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. |
| • | Measure parts for wear, using precision instruments. |
| • | Replace or repair worn, defective, or damaged components, using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment. |
| • | Modify aircraft structures, space vehicles, systems, or components, following drawings, schematics, charts, engineering orders, and technical publications. |
| • | Orders parts and requests vendor repair work to be accomplished. |
| • | Maintain repair logs, documenting all preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance. |
| • | Performs other duties as assigned. |

SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
Experience:Experience in Aircraft Maintenance preferred.
Extensive experience in Auto Mechanics desired.
