What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gear Technician position at AppleOne Technical Staffing?
Compensation: $18/hr
Aviation experience preferred but NOT required; also accepting auto mechanic and marine mechanic experience.
In this role, you’ll service aircraft landing gear components by performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and component-level repairs and replacements in accordance with technical manuals and specifications.
This position involves both routine and complex tasks and requires the ability to follow aviation repair manuals precisely.
Responsibilities:
Inspect, maintain, and repair aircraft landing gear and associated components.
Interpret and follow maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and technical documentation to assess and carry out repair or replacement procedures. Use precision tools to measure components and check for wear.
Replace or repair worn or defective parts using hand tools, gauges, and testing equipment.
Modify aircraft structures and systems as needed, following engineering drawings and technical publications.
Coordinate part orders and request external vendor repairs when necessary.
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance work, including preventive and corrective actions
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or GED required.
Excellent technical aptitude; ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
Strong attention to detail
Ability to follow technical instructions and safety procedures
Comfortable performing both repetitive tasks and adapting to new challenges
Preferred Skills Prior experience in aircraft, auto or marine mechanics/maintenance is preferred.
Strong background in mechanics is highly desirable.
Compensation: $18 with opportunity for raise upon conversion to permanent employee
