Job Title: Senior Attorney – Insurance Defense Litigation
Position Overview:
Our client, a highly respected and growing law firm, is seeking an accomplished Senior Attorney with deep expertise in insurance defense litigation to join its dynamic litigation practice. This is an immediate, high-impact opportunity for a seasoned litigator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to play a key role handling sophisticated, high-exposure matters from inception through resolution.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in defense litigation, exceptional courtroom presence, and the ability to provide strategic legal counsel to clients across complex insurance and liability matters. This role offers significant autonomy, direct client interaction, and the opportunity to mentor junior attorneys while contributing to the continued growth of a well-established practice.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a full caseload of complex defense litigation matters through all phases of litigation, including strategy development, discovery, motion practice, trial preparation, and resolution
• Represent clients in court appearances, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trial proceedings
• Conduct detailed legal analysis and provide strategic guidance related to insurance coverage, liability exposure, and risk management
• Draft and review pleadings, dispositive motions, briefs, legal opinions, and settlement agreements
• Collaborate closely with clients, insurance carriers, adjusters, and internal legal teams to ensure efficient and effective case management
• Negotiate favorable settlements while balancing litigation strategy and client objectives
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by delivering practical, business-oriented legal solutions
• Mentor and support junior attorneys and legal staff within the litigation team
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
• Active bar license in good standing
• 15 years of overall legal experience, including at least 7 years focused on defense litigation
• Strong background in insurance defense litigation strongly preferred
• Proven courtroom, deposition, and trial experience
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex litigation matters
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and negotiation skills
• Strong interpersonal and client relationship management abilities
• Ability to prioritize competing deadlines and manage multiple active cases in a high-volume environment
Preferred Experience:
• General liability, professional liability, commercial litigation, or casualty defense matters
• Insurance coverage analysis and policy interpretation
• Experience working directly with insurance carriers and claims professionals
