What are the responsibilities and job description for the Forward Deployed Strategist position at Product Pulse?
We’re the #1 applied AI company on the planet, helping massive enterprise businesses transform from the ground up with AI nativity. Dozens of companies reach out every week, ranging from $1B to $100B in annual revenue, with client contracts at 7-8 figures ARR each. Most large companies burn over 50% of their time on manual processes that are too complex for traditional automation and too repetitive for talented employees. We build the agents that take it over, then stays embedded long-term to monitor, optimize, and continuously upgrade.
We’re a venture-backed by top-tier funds, on track to be valued at over a billion dollars soon, with a 100% production success rate vs. industry 5-13%.
About the Role
Forward Deployed Strategists own the interviews that surface the requirements for every engagement. You sit across the table from process leads, controllers, middle management, analysts, and ICs at Fortune 500 and NASDAQ-listed enterprises, 30 to 60 minutes at a time, all day, every day during an engagement. There is no script. You pivot based on what the interviewee actually says, surface what the framework missed, and translate live conversation into the analysis that engineering will build against. This is not a 6-month ramp consulting gig. You join, plug in, and run. The reward is the bar: same polish bar as the Engagement Manager you report to, ownership of real work streams, and a path to Engagement Manager in 12-18 months for high performers.
What You'll Own
- Run client interviews end-to-end. 30 to 60-minute sessions with process leads, controllers, middle
management, analysts, and ICs.
2. Own one or two sub-process work streams inside the department being audited (AP workflow, deal desk routing, close cycle, comparable)
3. Build the analysis: process maps, bottleneck identification, ROI sizing, agent specs that engineering can build against, and the leadership presentations
4.Manage real-time conversation pivots. No script. Adjust based on what the interviewee actually says. Map stakeholder buy-in. Figure out who else you need to talk to and get the meetings yourself.
Requirements Must-Have
- 1-5 years of professional experience at a high-bar firm
- On-the-fly listening: hears what the controller actually said, not what the framework expected, and adjusts Polish: same bar as the Engagement Manager.
- Walks into a Fortune 500 finance team and earns trust in five minutes.
- Communication: crisp emails to senior executives, clean top-down presentation skills
- AI literacy: has used Claude, Cursor, or terminal already, or is visibly able to ramp in days
- Ownership mindset: joins, plugs in, runs. No 6-month hand-holding window. Ready to add value on day one.
Nice-to-Have
- McKinsey BA/Associate, BCG Consultant/Associate, or Bain Associate Consultant
- Banking or PE then operator (Goldman / Evercore / Morgan Stanley / Lazard analyst pivoting to operator role)
- Technical IC with strong comms (engineer with C-suite-facing communication signal)
- Startup operator: Chief of Staff or BizOps at a high-bar startup
- Non-traditional path is OK if the communication and ownership bars are visibly clear
