Prodrive Technologies is a leading provider of high-quality PCB manufacturing and assembly services. Our Surface Mount Technology (SMT) department plays a critical role in delivering reliable electronic assemblies, powering industries from medical devices to clean energy and automotive.
We’re looking for an experienced SMT Technician II to join our team. In this role, you’ll lead advanced setup, operation, and troubleshooting of state-of-the-art SMT equipment to ensure efficient, high-quality PCBA production in line with IPC standards. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare components, load feeders, and stage materials
- Set up and operate SMT equipment (printers, pick-and-place, reflow, inspection)
- Troubleshoot issues to maintain quality and meet delivery targets
- Support product transitions from prototype to production
- Follow all procedures and IPC/quality standards
- Report to the Production Team Leader and suggest improvements for yield, performance, and cost
- Cross-train on equipment and processes for team flexibility
Basic Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in SMT production within a high-volume manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated accountability, attention to detail, and excellent hand-eye coordination
- Proficient in using computers and production-related software for daily operations
- Enjoys hands-on work involving tools, machinery, and technical equipment
- Able to accurately follow detailed instructions in a fast-paced production setting
- Strong English communication skills; proactive and motivated to learn new skills
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with MES, 5S, and ESD-safe environments
- Soldering or rework experience (SMT/through-hole; IPC/J-STD a plus)
- IPC and/or JSTD certification including IPC-A-610, IPC 7711/7722, or JSTD-001
