Job description
Position Highlights:
We are rapidly expanding our US team and are seeking a successful, enthusiastic, and self-motivated Dental Lab Production Manager. As a key player in our Company, you will play an important role in the growth and success of PRODIRECT Dental Lab.
We are looking for a Dental Lab Production Manager that will lead and manage the dental lab. Ensure high-quality prosthetics, appliances, and digital restorations are produced on time and within regulatory and clinical standards. Coordinate with clinicians, allied staff, suppliers, and leadership to optimize workflow and patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and people management
· Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate dental technicians.
· Schedule workflows, assign tasks, and resolve staffing or performance issues.
· Foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Operations and workflow management
· Oversee end-to-end production of dental prosthetics (crowns, bridges, dentures, implants, ortho appliances, etc.) from case receipt to completion and delivery.
· Monitor turnaround times, capacity planning, and batch throughput; adjust workflows to meet demand.
· Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and QA/QC processes.
· Quality assurance and regulatory compliance
· Implement and maintain QA/QC protocols; review prosthetics against specifications and clinician feedback.
· Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and safety standards (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA guidelines, manufacturer instructions).
· Manage non-conforming work, rework processes, and corrective actions.
Quality assurance and regulatory compliance
· Implement and maintain QA/QC protocols; review prosthetics against specifications and clinical feedback.
· Ensure compliance with infection control, sterilization, and safety standards (OSHA, HIPAA, ADA guidelines, manufacturer instructions).

Clinical liaison and case management
· Review prescriptions, prescriptions for accuracy, and communicate design/specification questions to clinicians.
· Collaborate with technical department to optimize restorations and outcomes.
· Troubleshoot design or material issues with technical department and provide technical guidance.
Materials, equipment, and facility management
· Oversee inventory of dental materials, tools, and consumables; manage procurement and vendor relationships.
· Schedule calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment (CAD/CAM systems, milling machines, scanners, furnaces, etc.).
· Ensure clean, organized, and compliant lab environment.
· Technology and process innovation
· Stay current with digital dentistry trends (CAD/CAM, 3D printing, digital scans, intra-oral scanners).
· Evaluate and implement new technologies or materials that improve quality and efficiency.
· Lead process improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma concepts as applicable).

· Documentation and data management
· Maintain accurate records for cases, materials, equipment maintenance, and QA results.
· Generate and report key performance metrics (turnaround time, defect rate, rework, cost per case).
Budgeting and financial management
· Develop and manage department budget; control costs without compromising quality.
· Analyze cost drivers, negotiate with suppliers, and optimize resource use.
Training and development
· Create ongoing training plans for staff on techniques, safety, and new technologies.
· Ensure team compliance with continuing education requirements and certifications where applicable.
Qualifications and skills (typical)
· Education: Degree or diploma in dental technology or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications favored.
· Experience: 5 years in dental laboratory technology with previous supervisory/leadership experience.
· Certification: CDT (Certified Dental Technician) or equivalent credential is advantageous.
· Technical knowledge: Proficiency with dental materials (alloys, ceramics, polymers), CAD/CAM software (e.g., Exocad, 3Shape), digital impression systems, and operating equipment.
· Management skills: Leadership, team building, project management, conflict resolution.
· Communication: Strong written and verbal communication with clinicians, staff, and vendors.
· Analytical and problem-solving: Ability to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
· Regulatory awareness: Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and applicable dental/medical standards.
· Computer literacy: Lab management software, ERP/MMS systems, data reporting.
