Senior Manager, Operations Procurement - North America
Role Summary
The Senior Manager, Operations Procurement serves as the primary procurement interface for a multi‑site manufacturing organisation. This role is responsible for driving commercial value, strengthening supplier relationships, leading teams, and managing operational and market risk in a complex, asset‑intensive environment.
The position combines strategic category oversight with hands‑on operational procurement and requires strong commercial judgment, stakeholder influence, and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the central procurement point of contact for manufacturing operations and cross‑functional teams
- Lead, develop, and performance‑manage procurement and operational buying teams
- Drive total procurement value through effective sourcing, contracting, and supplier management
- Evaluate existing supplier and contract relationships to identify savings, improve commercial terms, and mitigate risk
- Coach team members in contracting, competitive tenders, supplier onboarding, and performance management
- Coordinate and implement category management strategies across multiple manufacturing sites
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with key suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Plan and lead sourcing activities, manage supplier communications, and support negotiations
- Partner with internal stakeholders to identify commercial opportunities and address supply risk
- Monitor supplier performance and external markets to identify risks, disruptions, and improvement opportunities
- Procure materials and services in alignment with safety, quality, reliability, and schedule requirements
- Utilize ERP systems to manage supplier agreements, pricing, and commodity analytics
- Identify and implement improvements across procurement processes, contract management, master data, and governance
- Deploy performance measurement tools and continuous improvement initiatives within the operational buying function

Experience and Capabilities
- Strong understanding of commercial contracts and framework agreements
- Demonstrated ability to influence internal stakeholders and suppliers at multiple levels
- Experience leading and developing procurement teams in manufacturing or operational environments
- Proven background in category management and strategic sourcing
- Supplier performance and relationship management experience, including structured scorecard programs
- Operational risk assessment and mitigation experience in complex manufacturing settings
- Experience sourcing industrial services such as maintenance, turnarounds, capital projects, and engineering services
- Strong analytical capability across market analysis, cost modeling, financial analysis, and supply chain risk
- Ability to manage price volatility and supplier exposure using market intelligence
- Experience implementing business continuity and supply risk mitigation strategies
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including advanced Excel
- Experience with digital sourcing and contract management platforms
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP S/4HANA or equivalent)
Education and Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
- Professional certification (e.g., CPSM, CIPS, or similar) desirable
- Advanced degree (MBA or Master’s) preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ people leadership experience
- 10 years’ experience in procurement or category management within manufacturing, process industries, or similar asset‑intensive environments
