About this role
ProCure is seeking a Clinical and Surgical Specialist to join our growing team. This role plays a crucial part in the organ procurement process, working closely with the surgical team to ensure the safe and efficient retrieval or organs for transplantation, including management and operation of machine perfusion.
Essential Job Duties
- Provide on-call coverage and support for deceased donor procurement, organ preservation, and related activities, as assigned
- Demonstrate proficiency in sterile technique, universal precautions, infection control, and correct use of surgical instruments and supplies
- Perform designated aspects of preparing organs for machine perfusion and ensuring proper function and integrity
- Operate, monitor, and adjust machine perfusion systems to optimize organ preservation and assess organ viability
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with machine perfusion equipment or protocols during organ preservation
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of all required documentation
- Assist with hospital development initiatives and provide professional education
- Assist with recruitment and orientation of ProCure staff regarding surgical recovery procedures, sterile technique, and equipment use
- Maintain the highest standards of professional conduct and interpersonal relationship development promoting a positive and collaborative work environment aligned with the mission, vision, and values of the organization
- Fulfill additional individual and departmental directives, obligations, and responsibilities, as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a surgical first assistant not required if training through experience
- Previous experience working in organ procurement for transplantation preferred
- Previous experience with machine perfusion and management of device preferred
- Knowledge of surgical procedures related to organ retrieval
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care, safety, and professionalism
- OPO experience preferred
