Duties
- Lead the preparation and analysis of comprehensive financial statements in accordance with IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards) and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee general ledger accounting, account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and accounts receivable/payable processes using advanced accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Manage cash flow through effective cash management strategies, forecasting, and monitoring daily cash positions to support organizational needs.
- Ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls and other regulatory reporting requirements for transparency and accountability.
- Supervise payroll processing, technical accounting functions, and ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards for non-profit or public sector entities where applicable.
- Conduct financial analysis and account analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, management dashboards, and executive summaries that communicate complex financial concepts clearly to stakeholders.
- Support budgeting processes by developing forecasts, tracking variances, and providing insights for strategic decision-making.
Experience
- Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting with a strong understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, double-entry bookkeeping, and account reconciliation.
- Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance including SOX controls and IFRS standards; experience with GAAP is essential.
- Hands-on experience managing accounts payable/receivable cycles using accounting software like Sage, Xero, QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Strong background in financial management within non-profit or public sector organizations is preferred.
- Experience conducting balance sheet reconciliation, financial report writing, and technical accounting analysis.
- Knowledge of budgeting processes, forecasting techniques, and financial software tools to support organizational planning efforts.
