About us:

PMI’s mission is to provide full-service solutions for the mineral processing industry, with professional engineered systems, high quality distributed products, and exceptional services.

About the Role:

The Aggregate Application Specialist develops and supports customer relationships within an assigned territory by delivering technical, application-based solutions for aggregate processing operations. This role combines deep industry knowledge, equipment expertise, process troubleshooting, and consultative sales to help customers optimize plant performance and meet production targets.

As a primary technical resource, the Aggregate Application Specialist supports PMI's full portfolio—including equipment, systems, parts, service, wear products, and rentals—while driving growth in existing accounts and expanding new business.

Responsibilities:

Customer & Territory Development

  • Build and maintain strong, consultative relationships with new and existing clients across the territory.
  • Formulate and execute territory strategies to hit sales, profitability, and market-share targets.
  • Identify commercial opportunities across equipment, systems, parts, service, wear components, and rental solutions.
  • Provide timely, responsive technical and commercial support.
  • Represent PMI at trade shows, industry association functions, customer events, and networking meetings.

Aggregate Applications & Technical Support

  • Evaluate site-specific applications and recommend equipment solutions tailored to production needs, material characteristics, product gradations, and operational goals.
  • Troubleshoot crushing, screening, conveying, feeding, and material-handling systems to resolve bottlenecking, process-flow issues, and plant performance constraints.
  • Apply deep expertise in plant flow design, product gradations, and equipment sizing to develop optimized system layouts.
  • Utilize application modeling software to draft and present plant process-flow concepts.

Sales & Project Development

  • Promote and sell PMI distributed products, custom fabricated equipment, turnkey systems, replacement parts, service, wear items, and rental assets.
  • Identify and cultivate multi-component systems projects and overall plant performance upgrades.
  • Collaborate closely with internal and external teams—including Pre-Construction, Engineering, Project Management, Parts & Service, Production, and vendors—to build technical proposals.
  • Gather detailed site and application data necessary for complex project quotes.
  • Drive opportunities through the complete sales lifecycle, from initial contact to proposal delivery and final close.

Vendor & Internal Coordination

  • Maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key manufacturing partners and vendors.
  • Coordinate technical resources across internal departments and external suppliers to deliver comprehensive customer solutions.
  • Relay field insights, market conditions, competitor activities, and product needs back to PMI leadership.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Technical Expertise: Thorough understanding of aggregate processing, process-flow dynamics, gradation requirements, and material-handling systems.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Direct experience with crushing, screening, conveying, feeding, and auxiliary mineral processing machinery.
  • Problem Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude with proven ability to diagnose and resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Sales & Account Management: Demonstrated track record in consultative technical sales and account relationship building.
  • Communication & Organization: Strong negotiation, presentation, and written communication skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects independently.
  • Software Proficiency: Knowledgeable in CRM platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and aggregate application modeling tools.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in the aggregate industry focusing on equipment applications, processing, technical sales, plant maintenance, or site operations.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on industry experience strongly considered.
  • Certifications & Licensure: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required. MSHA certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).

Working Conditions & Travel:

  • Routine regional territory travel required, including frequent overnight stays and occasional air travel.
