What you’ll tackle
- Transform specs and blueprints into complete estimates for mechanical scopes—labor, materials, equipment, and indirect costs included.
- Engage with project managers and engineers to clarify scope, validate takeoffs, and confirm constructability.
- Scan the market for pricing shifts, source suppliers, and benchmark costs.
- Collect, compare, and level subcontractor and vendor quotes.
- Support the creation of project budgets and financial forecasts.
- Keep estimate records, notes, and calculations organized and accessible.
- Join project meetings to explain cost drivers and budget considerations.
- Continuously refine templates, databases, and workflows to improve estimating accuracy.
- Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or similar preferred, not required.
- Track record estimating industrial mechanical work.
- Working knowledge of mechanical systems and construction processes.
- Comfort with estimating software and Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong math, analysis, and attention to detail.
- Clear communicator who collaborates well across teams.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments and tight timelines.
